LONE STAR GEARS

For my midterm project for my Prototyping and Fabrication class, I was tasked with taking one of the 507 Mechanical Movements and making a working model of it.

I chose Mechanical Movement 429 and created a stand of interlocking elliptical gears. After designing the gears using Gear Generator and Illustrator and making sure they worked, I decorated the project using wood stain and plasma-cut axles. I used a wooden star as the central handle to turn the middle gears so the other two gears would also turn at the same time.
